Art Show

As part of this year's Festival, there will be an Artists' Walk on the property at 38 Colborne Street - the corner of Colborne and Church Lane.

Festival guests will be welcome to stroll along the garden path to engage with York Region Artists in this free cultural activity.
Some will be displaying their creative talents, some may be painting in the garden, or working on their creations.
From painting, portraits, photography, and sculpture, there will be opportunities for the public to interact with the Artists.
One of the highlights will be Kathleen Rodgers' "Quilt of Valour".

This creation will be presented to a veteran when completed.
As you pass by, put in some stitches to show the soldier how much he/she is appreciated by the people for his/her work and sacrifices.
There will be a log book where the "quilters" can sign in, creating an accurate record of who contributed. Come join us in showing appreciation.

You will also see:
  • oil painting, fused glass, pottery, water colours, graffiti and experimental, paper creations, acrylic

History of Art in Thornhill
The MacDonald House was home to Group of Seven artist J.E.H. MacDonald and his son, Thoreau MacDonald, c.1914-1980. If you wish to see a piece of Canadian Art History, pop into the grounds and see where the famous Canadian painting ‘The Tangled Garden’ was composed and painted.
